      Entrevista realizada a la licenciada Ángela Avella egresada de la universidad UPTC docente de matemáticas de Duitama del colegio La Presentación: La entrevista fue referente a la civilización de los sumerios en la cual se habló: Los Sumerios fueron una civilización de alrededor de 4000 a.C. muy organizada, gracias a la riqueza del agua habitaron en lo que hoy es Irak para poder explorar la tierra, era una civilización muy bien constituida por lo cual quisieron llevar control de administrar inicialmente hacían dibujos y pasaron a los jeroglíficos, la organización social donde se crearon las ciudades. Y una de los aportes fue que ellos fueron los primeros en utilizar un sistema de numeración de notación posicional –sistema sexagesimal, el sistema sexagesimal donde vienen el manejo del tiempo que manejamos actualmente el calendario fue acoplado gracias a ellos; también desarrollaron un complejo sistema de metrología, esta metrología resulto en la creación de la aritmética, el álgebra y geometría, dejó la escritura, los pictogramas eran dibujos sencillos, pero servían bien a los fines con que fueron inventados: llevar la cuenta de lo que se vendía o producía.

      Los sumerios necesitaban saber, por ejemplo, cuántos sacos de cebada habían entregado en una fecha terminante a algún vecino comerciante y de esta manera poder administrar bien sus negocios o granjas.
